TRANSform Washington

We know that transgender and gender non-conforming people come from a beautiful, diverse array of backgrounds, perspectives and experiences. That their complexity adds to our community, their commitment to authenticity is admirable and their resilience in the face of discrimination is inspiring.

That is why we are proud to share with you a new project called Transform Washington. Transform Washington is a public education campaign celebrating the diversity and humanity of our transgender neighbors, co-workers, friends, and family members.

Like Clark, a transgender man from Mercer Island who volunteers in his community. Clark says when he told his mother that he was transgender “she just nodded her head and said ‘you were supposed to be a boy.’”

Help us spread the word by sharing these stories widely to your network.

While transgender people are business owners, musicians, health care practitioners, college students, retirees, employees and much more – only 23% of people in Washington say they personally know someone who is transgender.

Work with us to change that by sharing compelling, touching stories from transgenderpeople and their family members with your friends and family.

Just this past year, we have seen how this disconnect and lack of empathy for transgenderpeople has allowed for an increased level of attacks against our state’s 10-year old non-discrimination law.

Our transgender friends, family members, co-workers, neighbors, and children, deserve thefreedom to live their lives with privacy, safety and dignity.

Take a moment to read more and spread the word far and wide to help make our world safer for them.
